"Sound Check: The Jazz Photography of Thomas King"

Posted: Monday, October 21, 2013

Thomas King has long been a familiar figure at the Guelph Jazz Festival. He can be seen attending rehearsals and sound checks, or lingering patiently in hallways with camera in hand, watchful and ready to capture candid, open moments in the work and lives of visiting musicians. King has been photographing the Guelph Jazz Festival for twenty years - and the results are breathtaking. ICASP, the Guelph Jazz Festival, and Macdonald Stewart Art Centre are delighted to present an exhibition of King's jazz portraits and a published catalogue featuring photographs from the exhibit.

If people talked the way they drummed in improvisation, then I think the world would be a lot nicer…
