Call for Contributions - Al Mada Music Therapy Centre

In April, ICASP research team member Daniel Fischlin will be travelling to Ramallah in the West Bank to visit the Al Mada Music Therapy Centre. The centre's mission includes fostering creative expression, healing, and community-building through the arts, in particular music. Daniel has asked for individuals and/or groups in Guelph to contribute to a box of materials (books, recordings, small instruments, etc.) that will be delivered to the centre.

The International Institute for Critical Studies in Improvisation (IICSI)'s mandate is to create positive social change through the confluence of improvisational arts, innovative scholarship, and collaborative action. For the 2014-2015 academic year, we invite applications of postdoctoral researchers for two residential fellowships. One fellowship will be located at Memorial University of Newfoundland; the second fellowship will be located at the University of Guelph, McGill University, or the University of Regina.

Please join us for the next Thinking Spaces meeting on Friday March 7, 2014, between 4-6 pm in the MacKinnon Buidling (Room 203) at the University of Guelph. In this meeting, D'Arcy Philip Gray will lead a discussion on improvisation and interactive electronics. In the past ten years, D'Arcy has premiered over 100 new works, mostly solo or chamber music by Canadian composers. He has been very active as an improviser, working extensively with Suddenly Listen and Upstream.

The next meeting of the Thinking Spaces Reading Group and Speakers Series will occur Thursday February 6, 4-6pm at the Guelph Public Library at 100 Norfolk street (2nd floor boardroom - just follow the stairs from the main entrance, it's right at the top). At this meeting Dr.
