Winter 2010: Undergraduate Research Assistant

Mally McGregor is a fourth year student in International Development and Agriculture with a minor in Music. She loves to play the flute, read, cook, and be outside. Her studies have taken her to Ecuador, Mexico and across Canada but her heart lies in rural Ontario where she hopes to live one day as a lawyer and gardener. Mally believes in the importance of applying academic research in the community, which is what drew her to the ICASP project.

Improvisation implies a deep connection between the personal and the communal, self and world. A “good” improviser successfully navigates musical and institutional boundaries and the desire for self-expression, pleasing not only herself but the listener as well.
